We Are Clay
Who is the Potter and who is the clay? The answers are obvious, however; often we find ourselves taking some a portion of the glory for our vessel-ship. Never spoken specifically in this manner, yet, still spoken. "I accepted Jesus" or "I gave my life to Him" statements are rampant. Instead of "He has made me glad" or "He saved me" worldviews that promote God's holiness from start to finish. We wrongly take co-ownership for the way we became what we have become (in light of God's Kingdom). Why would we take any of the credit? Does not the Potter deserve all of it? His creation for His purpose.
How can a lump of clay...even think...ponder that they are in control. Those of us who have had a revelation of how dirty our insides are-realize we didn't think we were dirty. The same goes for a clay pot.
My friend Cliff opened my eyes to a more scriptural view of receiving using the picture of this Wonderful, Creative Potter and his clay pots. Think on this simple illustration:
Many view receiving God's abundance and gifts as like He (God) stretches His hands out (to us) with his grace or mercy or even salvation wholly; we must reach out and grab it.
How about this thought. We are a uniquely made pot that He created. God pours in his goodness and grace. We are a vessel receiving. As it pours over and out of us--this is God showing himself through us. It is His work and we can't boast. This sounds like Paul's teaching in Eph. 2. "Lest any man should boast."

Give it some thought.
