Original Folk

Original Folk has been the driving force behind my music since I was in my early 20s.  Like many of you, I came to a crisis in my spiritual walk.  I was asking questions that I had been unable to get answers to.  God sent me a few men, including Cliff, Phil, Randy, Larry, Max, and taller Randy, that showed me a kind of love that was not afraid to look for truth.  

What I found (like many of you) is that God's Church is His People.  No ifs, ands or buts!  And, there was a great deal of wrong in what I believed, illustrated by things that I said, the way I approached situations and things I thought I believed but had never vetted. The start of this new journey was not one of unorthodoxy.  It actually drove me to where it all started...with the early church...the Original Folk.

I also found that "goin' ta church on the Lord's Day" has been and continues to be an excuse mechanism that generates reasoning in our brains telling us the other 6 and 1/2 days are not the Lord's Day.  A disconnect in faith has taken place.  Maybe this is why America and its society is where it is today?  Only God knows.

I am not saying don't meet.  The fellowship of Christ's Body is of utmost importance.  Always.  And, living in faith everyday, all of the time, is actually more aligned with Jesus' teaching than earning ones 100% Sunday School attendance pin.  Coming together, loving, accountability, growing, hearing & sharing testimonies, eating together, edifying one another with the intent of glorifying God---All so critical to Body Life.  And, this is the type of activity that can also (and should be) take place everyday.  Throw in the mix a love so amazing for God that you can't help sharing His Good News with those who don't know him.

I use the term Body Life.  Body Life is seven days a week, intentionally living out your faith with other Believers.  This brings about much love and mercy.  Gathering with people fascinated with God so much that they desire to learn, share what they've learned and herald the Good News.

Basically, if you choose to read my blog posts, you will see the following terms and phrases: 

Body Life - Christ's seven day a week activity.  Spirit-driven, daily living out the fruit of the Spirit.  The fruit is not a checklist.  It is the life of Christ showing in our lives naturally because we have been made alive in Christ.  He gets all of the glory. 

Aswego - When is the best time to share the Gospel? Aswego.  When should we praise/thank God?  Aswego.  As-We-Go!  According to Paul and John, a Believer is known by believing.  Walking in the hope of the King. 

Original Folk - Going back to the early church practices which are more simple, more intimate, more edifying...more real.  There will ultimately be some posts hopefully shared by a couple of friends of mine who have seen this played out longer than I have. : ) 

Paul's Big Three (Thessalonians 5:16-18)-

• Rejoice at every when.  When? EVERY when. 
• Give Thanks in all things (Do we really know what thanks is?), and 
• Pray non-stop.  When is a good time to pray?  Never stop. (this may require one to look at prayer differently).  

 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Every song on this website has a story.  If you are looking for the most professional recordings...not the place.  These are grassroots, recorded with kids running around my feet.  And, I wouldn't change that for the anything.  Just listen to the words and enjoy. 

The merchandise has a purpose and usually a message. Or, it is some type of handmade item made by the loving hands of a family member.
